STERLING — Police say that a baby girl died while she was at daycare Thursday morning.
Around 11:45 a.m. police responded to a private residence on Logans Way that serves as a daycare on reports that a 9-month-old girl was unresponsive.
The baby girl was taken to Backus Hospital, but she was later pronounced dead.
While the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner needs to perform an autopsy to determine the official cause of death, State Police say there doesn’t appear to be a criminal aspect in her death at this time.
Per procedure, the Eastern District Major Crime Unit responded and will conduct the investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Sterling is located on the Rhode Island border in the southeastern part of the state.
