HARTFORD – A road is closed in the city of Hartford after a water main break early Thursday morning.
An 8-inch water main broke at 351 New Park Avenue, according to officials with the Metropolitan District Commission. The main, originally installed in 1903, broke at 2 a.m. on Thursday.
MDC initially said water was to be restored between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., but later revised that estimate.
The road work is expected to last until 4 p.m. because MDC crews will have to replace the pipe, rather than repair it.
No one has been impacted by the shutdown. All customers are cross-fed from a nearby water main.
