MADISON–Power company Eversource reported around 5:20 p.m. that several thousand people didn’t have power Friday afternoon, mostly along the Connecticut shoreline, but it was restored in less than 30 minutes.
According to Eversource, a squirrel at a sub station in Madison. Power was rerouted, allowing most customers to get it back very quickly.
At 5:30 p.m. on Friday this was the breakdown of outages, but most were restored a short time later:
- Branford: More than 500
- Madison: Nearly 3,000
- Killingworth: Nearly 1,500
- Clinton: More than 4,000
- Westbrook: Nearly 300
- Stamford: More than 300
Several power companies in recent days have issued warnings that the power grids could be overwhelmed due to the increased use of air conditioners amid the heat streak we’re currently experiencing, though in this case that was not the cause.
