HARTFORD–A 10-minute interruption in service for the State Police 911 system appears to be more than a fluke.

Around 6:25 p.m. on Friday evening, the state 911 phone lines went down for a short time. However, the impact has resulted in issues for several local departments despite the state’s being back to normal.

Dozens of towns were having trouble with 911 calls, including regional dispatch centers like the Valley Shore Regional Dispatch Center, which covers several shoreline towns.

State Police say some systems will work for a few minutes and then shut down.

If you can’t get through by using 911, call your town’s routine phone number, which is listed on most police department websites or on Google.
