NEW HAVEN --  A Branford man, facing multiple charges, is due in court Tuesday for allegedly pointing a gun at an off-duty police officer in what appears to be a case of road rage.

Anthony Vigliotti, 29, of Branford, is charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, threatening, breach of peace and following to close with intent to harass.

Branford police received a 911 call from an off-duty New Haven police officer on July 7 who reported Vigliotti pointed a gun at him at the intersection of East Main Street and Windmill Hill Road.

The off-duty officer said that Vigliotti was tailgating and blowing his horn at him.  The officer thought he wanted him to go faster, then at the intersection, Vigliotti pointed the gun and drove off.

Branford Police arrested Vigliotti at his home where they found a .45 caliber gun. Police did say he had a valid pistol permit.

Both the gun and permit were seized by police.

Vigliotti is expected to be in a New Haven court later this morning.
