NEW BRITAIN -- The body of a man was found in New Britain's Stanley Quarter Park Tuesday morning.

Capt. Thomas Steck says a passer-by found the body in front of the skate park at about 7:45 a.m. Police, firefighters and medics responded. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police termed it a suspicious death, but wouldn't elaborate.

Authorities have not released the man's name, but said he was in his '40s, and that he was shot. They didn't say if he was shot in the park or transported there after the fact, but it's believe he was shot overnight.

New Britain Police Captain Thomas Steck says, "It's a safe park. We don't have any problems here."

Police were on the scene investigating near the baseball diamond off Eddy Glover Blvd.

The investigation is ongoing. Check back for further details as they develop.
