WEST HARTFORD - A group marched through West Hartford to the West Hartford Police Department on Thursday in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

In recent weeks, a group called "Showing up for Racial Justice", or S.U.R.J., organized to stand side-by-side with black communities to denounce these types of shootings.

On Thursday protestors walked from the Veteran's Memorial down Farmington Avenue towards Blue Back Square, ending at the police station.

Demonstrators felt it was important for black and white people to present a united front on this important issue.

The continued alarm over how police treat black men has been a major focus of the NAACP national convention this week for thousands of participants in Cincinnati.
