WEST HAVEN – A West Haven woman has been sentenced to prison on Thursday for distributing narcotics.

Natali Martinez, 30, of West Haven, was sentenced to three years behind bars, followed by three years of probation.

Martinez pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to sell and to possess with intent to sell crack cocaine on March 9.

Police say Martinez had been under investigation since last year, and she was arrested on July 13, 2015.

Last July 4, police responded to an explosion on Wintergreen Avenue in Hamden and found a dead man who had been wrapped in a plastic garbage bag and bound by rope.

That victim was identified as Edward Brooks. He lived at 59 Front Street in West Haven. Police said Martinez and several others who also lived at that address were subjects of an ongoing drug investigation.

Investigators executed a drug search and seizure warrant at the Front Street residence and found pipe bomb making materials that were consistent with the materials found at the Wintergreen Avenue explosion scene; about 16 grams of crack cocaine; about 10.6 grams of methamphetamine; and drug packaging material.
