WEST HAVEN - A community came together to help an injured officer from West Haven.A carnival was held in the city on Thursday to benefit officer Michael Doyle.

Last month, Doyle was hit by a car and seriously hurt while taking part in a motorcycle training class with the Yonkers, New York, Police Department on the Taconic State Parkway.

Police said two of the motorcycles struck each other after taking evasive action when a vehicle attempted to merge onto the parkway.

Doyle was ejected from his motorcycle. The second rider and the motorist were uninjured.
