TORRINGTON — An underground transformer explosion closed off a stretch of Main Street for a time Wednesday morning.
Police said it happened around 3 a.m.
Main Street was closed off between Water Street and Maiden Lane, but has since reopened. There is no major damage to the street, according to officials.
About 37 homes in Torrington were without power.
Eversource is working to restore service.
