NEW HAVEN — Police say a man was found shot inside a car in New Haven after a nearby party turned violent.

Police responded to a neighborhood near the city’s Westville Cemetery around 10 p.m. Saturday for a report of a person shot.

Officers located the victim, 38-year-old James Jones, inside a parked car. He had a single gunshot wound to the chest.

The Hamden resident was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the shooting happened when a party at a nearby home turned violent after a dispute.
