EAST WINDSOR — An East Windsor police officer is receiving thanks after he donated his personal bike to a teen.
The East Windsor Police Department posted a note from the teen’s mother on their Facebook page Monday morning.
A few weeks ago, Jonathan and his friends rode their bikes to the Mercury gas station on Route 5, the note said. While they were inside, the teen’s bike was stolen.
The woman brought her son to the police department later that day to report it stolen to Officer Zachary Sherman.
“My son is 15 years old and has been working all summer to save money to a buy a car when he gets his license,” the woman wrote. “Jonathan is also a member of the Warehouse Point Fire Department.”
Hearing this, Officer Sherman decided to donate his personal bike to Jonathan.
“Officer Sherman was great to work with because he understood how upset we were to know that someone so uncaring of others could take a bike from a 15 year old kid.”
Way to go, Officer Sherman!
