SOUTHBURY--A teacher from a Southbury school has been arrested after vandalizing a student's car, police say.
According to State Police, Edward Kimble IV, a teacher at Pomperaug High School in Southbury, found a student's car parked in his spot on June 2. The teacher is said to have then let the air out of the car's front tire.
However, according to police, the student had permission from school security to park in the teacher's parking spot because the student parking area wasn't available.
The school district's superintendent, Regina Lemberich Botsford, said an internal investigation in the school is ongoing, and that Kimble is on paid administrative leave and will not have further contact with students at the school. The suspension is to ensure there is no "compromise to student safety."
On August 1, Kimble, 52, of Newtown, turned himself in to police on one count of reckless endangerment in the second degree, and he was released on a $500 bond. He'll appear in court August 10.
