INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The Teen Choice Awards aired Sunday night on FOX 61 and from Justin Timberlake‘s rousing speech to Jessica Alba’s emotional tribute to gun violence, it had to have been one of the best yet.
In case you missed it, here are the top five moments.
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump showed up.
Okay, we kid. But the show’s hosts, WWE star John Cena and Nickelodeon’s Victoria Justice had pretty hilarious impersonations of the presidential candidates. Oh, and can we talk about Cena’s wig? It was glorious.
Jennifer Garner wins award for most humble human ever.
Can Jennifer Garner be any sweeter? She took the stage to accept the award for Choice Drama Movie for her film, “Miracles From Heaven,” and she appeared genuinely shocked. (And no, we don’t mean Taylor Swift shocked.) Garner accepted the award with her 12-year-old co-star, Kylie Rogers and made our hearts melt when she said, “Thank you, this is for this little lady. That’s for you baby.”
Jessica Alba and Ne-Yo stand up to gun violence.
The stars were joined on stage by teens whose families had been affected by the shootings in Dallas, Orlando, Newtown and San Bernardino. Ne-Yo sang “What’s Going On” and together they encouraged everyone to use the hashtag #StopTheViolence.
The Teen Choice Awards received some backlash for not mentioning the late singer, Christina Grimmie. “The Voice” star received a posthumous award for Choice Web S
tar: Music, but some of Grimmie’s fans were upset that she wasn’t given a bigger tribute considering she was shot and killed the day before the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.
Serayah McNeill absolutely slayed.
“Empire” star Serayah McNeill brought down the house with her hit, “Look But Don’t Touch.” Her dance moves were on point and if you missed it, you can watch the performance in all its glory below.
Justin Timberlake won his 23rd Teen Choice Award.
Kobe Bryant honored Justin Timberlake with the “Decade Award,” and we are feeling seriously old right now. It seems like just yesterday when we were blasting “Rock Your Body” and crying a river. Timberlake used the occasion to urge teens to make a difference in their communities.
“I’m here to say you will make mistakes along the way,” Timberlake said during his speech. “You will fall down. I have many times … so don’t waste your 20s. They’re gonna be here before you know it, and they will go fast … So go out, do the impossible and just go on and become the greatest generation yet.”
