KILLINGLY–Police arrested a man overnight for driving under the influence after he almost hit another vehicle head-on.

State Police say that around 4:42 a.m. on Wednesday a trooper saw a car almost hit another car head-on on Lake Road in Killingly, and the trooper pulled the driver over.

Police identified the driver as Erik Ladouceur, 38, of Dayville, and the trooper said he seemed to be highly impaired.

Police say they determined he’d taken ketamine before driver, and was under the influence of it at the time. He was also found to have hypodermic needles and a white crystal rock-like substance, also believed to be ketamine.

Ketamine is categorized as a dissociative anesthetic and is used as an anesthetic medically, but when taken can distort perception of sight, sound and touch.

Ladoucer  was charged with operating under the influence of drugs, possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, and failure to drive in a proper lane. He’ll appear in court August 16.
