Temperatures reached 92° at Windsor Locks before the cold front rolled through the region this evening.  Parts of Connecticut did have a few thunderstorms with some locally heavy rain and gusty winds.  However, there was no severe weather and most of the activity was confined to southern and eastern areas of the state.

The cold front has moved off-shore so expect clear skies and a cooling trend overnight along with lower humidity.  By time the sun comes up early tomorrow morning, the air will feel much more comfortable setting the stage for a beautiful Sunday with sunshine, blue skies and low humidity.  This nice weather will continue through the first half of the week with the sun, low humidity and comfortable sleeping nights.  The heat and humidity will return to New England by the end of the week.  High pressure will slowly drift off the mid-Atlantic coast and begin transporting that very warm moist air mass back into Connecticut Wednesday night and especially Thursday and Friday.  A cold front will stall to our north that could spark a couple of rounds of showers and thunderstorms Thursday and Friday.  This time the cold front may not clear our shoreline like most of the fronts this summer.  Therefore, you can expect the warm, sticky air mass to possibly with us well into next weekend.
