BRISTOL — A motorcyclist was critically injured after he lost control and slammed into a utility pole overnight.

Bristol Police, Fire and EMS responded to the area of 647 Willis Street just after midnight on Saturday. Upon arrival, emergency teams found a 51-year-old man on the ground with life-threatening injuries. He was thrown from his motorcycle after striking a power pole.

The unidentified rider was rushed by ambulance to a nearby trauma center. It is unknown whether he survived through the night.

Preliminary investigation results show that the motorcyclist was traveling north on Willis Street when he lost control entering a curve in the road. He then exited the roadway and struck a utility pole near the pavement’s edge.

There were no other vehicles involved, nor did the motorcyclist have any passengers riding on the back of the bike. He was the only person to sustain injuries as a result of the crash.

The Bristol Police Department’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (START) was called in to aid the investigation, due to the severity of the accident.

Anyone who may have witnessed the bike crash is asked to call the Bristol Police Department at (860) 584-3032.
