Severe weather wreaked havoc across the state for the second day in a row Thursday.

More than 500 lightning strikes were recorded in Hartford and Tolland counties between 4:20 and 4:30 p.m. alone, and the storms had started midday. Thousands more lightning strikes hit around the state, and there were power outages on and off all afternoon and evening.

A person was hit by lightning near a gazebo at the Twin Hills Country Club in Coventry, but is alert and conscious, according to police. A Rockland Farms barn in Bolton caught on fire after being hit by lightning, and a house on Fieldstone Lane in Coventry also caught fire after being hit by lightning.

Some areas in Hartford County even saw as much as four inches of rain!

A nasty storm that passed through North Haven Wednesday afternoon left some damage in its wake. The National Weather Service confirms it was an EF-0 tornado with a maximum wind speed of 70 miles an hour. The tornado traveled a distance of 2.2 miles and was 50 yards wide.  Luckily no one was hurt.
