TOLLAND — A boat tore straight through a car a vehicle collision late Friday night, leaving one person trapped inside.
Tolland firefighters, police and EMS responders were dispatched to an area along Crestwood Road prior to 10:30 p.m. on reports of a serious accident.
As crews descended on the crash scene, they were greeted by a traumatizing view of a smashed vehicle, torn in half by a boat trailer, with a victim trapped inside.
Firefighters worked quickly to rescue the individual from the crushed and shredded vehicle. They used the jaws of life to saw through the hood of the car and extricate the victim.
The extrication process was tedious due to the circumstances of the accident. The trailer carrying the water vessel remained an obstacle for crews as they attempted various equipment changes before they were able to remove the victim.
