Police investigate fires, vandalism in Simsbury, Granby, Canton

SIMSBURY — Police in three towns are investigating a series of and fires occurring over the past several weeks that may be connected.

The Simsbury Police Department and Fire Marshal’s Office are  investigating fires that were set in residential garbage barrels in late July.

Trash barrels on Crestview Road in Tariffville, Pinnacle Mountain Road and Holcomb Street were destroyed by fire on July 27 and July 28. The fires happened in the late evening through the early morning hours. Police said a mailbox was damaged by fire two separate times on Tollgate Lane on July 18 and 25. Simsbury authorities are working with Canton officials because similar incidents happened there as well.

Granby investigators are looking into similar fires in their town also.

No injuries have been reported.
