SOUTHINGTON -- When it comes to pies, most people think of sweetness like apple, blueberry or pumpkin, but Sixpence Pie Company has mastered savory pies.

From shepherds pie and chicken pot pie to BBQ pulled pork or veggie, Sixpence is all about homemade goodness that are locally grown.

Owners Kara King and Lisa Totten have been serving up these hand-made creations for more than seven years and whether it's a meal on-the-go or a catered event, the pies taste like something out of your grandmother's oven.

The dough is light and flaky and the filling is an explosion of flavors making these pies a go-to dish for people all over Connecticut.

When asked if it was more about the dough or the filling, Kara quickly said that "it's all about the dough AND it's all about the filling."

So, after biting into one of the pies, you quickly understand what she is talking about.
