MILFORD — There will be no swimming at multiple swimming areas across the state, the DEEP announced Tuesday.

Silver Sands State Park in Milford, Indian Well State Park in Shelton, Kettletown State Park in Southbury, Wadsworth Falls State Park in Middlefield, and Wharton Brook State Park in Wallingford are all closed to swimmers on Tuesday.

Samples are collected by DEEP staff and are analyzed at the Department of Public Health Lab. Local health departments are responsible for sampling municipal swimming areas.

Last week, Squantz Pond State Park was closed after tests came back with high for bacteria there.

Earlier this summer, Silver Sands State Park in Milford was closed for several days due to high levels of bacteria in the water.
