HARTFORD — Four state run swimming area have reopened and two others remain closed due to high bacteria levels, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced Thursday.
The DEEP said the swimming areas at the following parks are closed:
The following swimming areas have reopened:
- Silver Sands in Milford
- Gardner Lake in Salem
- Wharton Brook in Wallingford
- Kettletown in Southbury
Samples are collected by DEEP staff and are analyzed at the Department of Public Health Lab. Local health departments are responsible for sampling municipal swimming areas.
Last week, Squantz Pond State Park was closed after tests came back with high for bacteria there.
Earlier this summer, Silver Sands State Park in Milford was closed for several days due to high levels of bacteria in the water.
