Victim in Putnam shooting dies of his injuries

PUTNAM — The man shot Monday in Putnam has died.

State police said the victim, who had been hospitalized UMass General Hospital in Massachusetts, died of his injuries.

Police  were called 9:18 p.m. Monday evening, When troopers arrived at 58 Pomfret Street, which is also Rt. 44, and found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.  The man was transported to Day Kimball Hospital and later flown to UMass General by Life Star Helicopter.

The Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad are investigating the incident.

Police said Monday this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.

The victim’s name has not been released.
