Amazon Holds News Conference

HARTFORD -- Amazon is experimenting with a new 30-hour workweek for some of its employees.

Julia Fullick-Jagiela, Assistant Professor Of Management at Quinnipiac, joined FOX 61 Good Day Connecticut to talk about the change.

Amazon's pilot program with a few of their technical teams, which are traditionally all part-time workers, has the potential of increasing Amazon's diversity which would appeal to their diverse customer base as well as attracting diverse top talent.

Employees in the pilot program will actually be given the same benefits as full-time employees, be salaried, and be paid 75 percent of what full-time workers are paid. This type of flexible work arrangement allows them to attract and recruit talent who may be looking for more work-life balance.
