HARTFORD–A city worker was arrested in connection to a July shooting incident.

On July 9 at 6:13 p.,. the Shooting Task Force responded to the Blue Five Corners convenience store on Westland Street for a shooting, and found shell casings in the parking lot. Surveillance video also showed the shooting, capturing video of the suspect and another person exchanging gunfire.

Police identified one of the suspects, Stacy Asberry, with the help of witness interviews, video analysis and social media research.

Asberry–an employee of the Department of Public Works who is on unauthorized, unpaid leave–was charged on Thursday with criminal attempt at assault in the first degree, unlawful discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, weapons in a motor vehicle and reckless endangerment.

Bond was set at $200,000.

Police are still working on charging the second suspect involved in the incident.

Asberry has five previous arrests in Hartford. His status with DPW is being reviewed.
