NEW HAVEN – Multiple families were able to escape a house fire in New Haven uninjured on Saturday night.

The fire broke out in a building at the corner of Chapel and Ferry streets in New Haven.

The fire was reported at around 8 p.m. at a multi-family home. It is believed that three families lived there, consisting of six adults and nine children.

There were people trapped on the second floor but first responders got everyone out in time.

There were no injuries to occupants of the house nor to firefighters.

Investigators are not sure yet how the fire started but said that it looks like it started on the second floor.
