Newtown’s lauded Labor Day Parade plays up patriotism

NEWTOWN - There was no shortage of patriotic flair as thousands turned out for this year's Labor Day Parade in Newtown.

Families lined the streets of downtown Newtown and this year's theme was "there's no place like home".

They came from all over the country - some from other parts of the world.

"This is my first time here actually and I'm here in vacation and I want to enjoy the parade," said Cecile Boutillon of France.

"We like to come to the parade here in Newtown," said Doug Taylor of Southbury. "It is a wonderful family event"

It was the 55th annual parade, which is the largest in the state.
