Willimantic burglary suspect that led police on chase faces multiple charges

WILLIMANTIC — The suspect arrested a burglary Tuesday in Willimantic has an extensive criminal record.

State Police say Willimantic Police were called to a report of a residential burglary on Spring Street shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday. They saw a man leaving the house and get into a car and take off.

Officials said the suspect, Ordro Fletcher, 56, of New Britain, then led police on a chase. Police said Fletcher hit several police cruisers and parked cars. As detectives approached the suspect he tried to run over a detective with his car, and that detective fired his gun, though no one was hit.

The suspect ran off on foot and was found by officers and taken into custody without incident on Chestnut and Spring Streets.

The investigation spanned three separate crime scenes, sources say.

Fletcher was charged with burglary, reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, driving without a license, evading responsibility, attempted assault, and reckless endangerment.

He was held on $250,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Fletcher’s record includes burglary, interfering with an officer, and escape from custody.
