WEST HARTFORD – A West Hartford bar where a shooting took place Saturday had their liquor license suspended by the state.

In response to the recent shooting at the Los Imperios restaurant on Farmington Avenue, Police Chief Tracy Gove took an unusual step by requesting a summary suspension through the Department of Consumer Protection.

Grove’s letter follows years of non compliance and disturbances stemming from the restaurant, according to police, and the move was made to ensure the safety of customers and neighbors alike.

The DCP suspended the liquor permit on Thursday. This means that Los Imperios will be allowed to remain open to serve food, but the sale and consumption of alcohol is prohibited, and BYOB is not allowed.
