NEW LONDON – Two U.S. Coast Guard cadets accused of sexual assault will face court-martial.

Cadet Michael Shermot is charged with violation of Article 120 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice Sexual Assault. The court-martial, scheduled to begin Sept. 12, will be held in Norfolk, Va.

Cadet Anthony Livingstone is charged with the following violations of the UCMJ: Violation of Article 120 Sexual Assault, Article 127 Extortion, Article 133 Conduct unbecoming an Officer and a Gentleman. This court-martial, scheduled to begin Oct. 26, will also be held in Norfolk, Va.

Charges are accusations against the individuals, and the accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by the military justice system.

No further information was released by the Coast Guard.
