Suspicious Willimantic death ruled a homicide


WILLIMANTIC–An investigation is ongoing in Willimantic, where a person was killed on Wednesday.

Police say a person was killed at a Valley Street address, not far from a Stop and Shop and Windham Hospital. Police originally said the death was suspicious, and Willimantic police called in the Eastern District Major Crime Unit and State’s Attorney’s Office to help investigate.

Now, the death has been ruled a homicide, and the victim has been identified as William Alvarado, 73, of Willimantic. He lived in the home in which he was found.

Police are not releasing information on how he died, though the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner did do an autopsy. They have not released any information on a suspect.
