Sacred Heart keeps local fans proud with win at home

FAIRFIELD--On Saturday afternoon the Pioneers of Sacred Heart University improved to a 2-0 record so far this football season with an impressive 42-14 win over the Crusaders of Valparaiso University, a school located in Indiana.

After the Crusaders tied the game 7-7 early in the first quarter, the home team Pioneers scored 28 straight points to lead 35-7. Valpo added a touch down late in the first quarter to cut the Sacred Heart lead to 35-14 at the break.

Early in the third Jay Croom went on a nice run and scored the final touchdown of the game to dash any hopes of a Crusader come back.
