EAST HARTFORD -- She's believed to be about a year to a year and a half old, but already pit bull mix Autumn has endured more than she should have had to.

"This is one of the worst beatings I've ever been around," said Americo "Montana" Cateni, co-founder of Pack Leaders Dog Rescue of CT. "Because of the malnutrition and just the swelling and the different injuries. It's a pretty bad one."

Autumn was originally was Hartford but ended up in Waterbury with new owners who allegedly abused and malnourished her. She was given to Pack Leaders in a fragile and injured state.

The team is working to bring Autumn back to good health, and then she'll be looking for a good foster home.

Waterbury Police are investigating the former owner to see if charges should be filed.
