HARTFORD--As we head into fall, brush fire danger concerns are reigniting.
That's because we're seeing a lot of the same conditions as we did in spring, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says.
It continues to be dry, leaves are piling up on the ground, and the sun is beating down because the leaf canopy is thinning.
Thursday, the fire danger rating went from moderate to high.
"If we don't get any significant rain for the month of October, we will see definitely an increase in brush fire activity throughout the state," Chris Martin, DEEP Director of Forestry, said.
DEEP warns people to be extra careful with campfires, and now that the fire danger is "High," burning brush is not allowed.
