MILFORD — A Milford man has been charged in connection with a home invasion and assault over the weekend.

On Sunday, police responded to a Hawley Avenue residence for a report of a possible home invasion.

Police said they saw Michael Buonaiuto, 58,  of Milford, in the front yard holding a broken baseball bat and “swinging it in an aggressive manner pointing the broken tipped end” at another man in the yard.

Police said Buonaiuto had previously got into the home and told the man several times he was going to “kill him” using the baseball bat. The homeowner was able to get Buonaiuto back out of his home and keep him out until police arrived.

The man was unharmed but police said that Buonaiuto caused property damage with the bat.

Buonaiuto was charged with second-degree breach of peace, second-degree threatening, third-degree criminal mischief, home invasion, third-degree criminal attempted assault and violation of a protective order. He was released on a $50,000 bail and is due to appear in Milford Court on October 11.
