MANCHESTER — Downed wires caused major traffic issues on Monday afternoon in Manchester.

According to police, a tractor trailer pulled down the wires in the area of New State Road and Middle Turnpike West. Initially, that knocked out power to about 241 people in town, as well as some traffic lights. By 7:30 p.m. only 160 outages remained, but the traffic lights were still out.

One police officer is on the scene directing traffic, but delays are expected to last for several hours, into the evening.

Eversource was responding to the scene to repair the damage and get the power back on, as well as the lights back up and running.
