BRISTOL–The ongoing drought continues to wreak havoc on the state’s water supply, despite the rain we had earlier this week.

The Bristol Water Department and mayor’s office announced on Tuesday that the city was issuing mandatory water restrictions to residents. The reservoirs in town have declined to below 60 percent capacity, the threshold for these restrictions.

All customers must limit the amount of outdoor watering usage, and an odd/even watering system is now in effect, meaning that properties with even street numbers can water their lawns or wash their cars on even days of the month, and the same for odd street numbers.

If you have questions you can call the water department at 860-582-7431 or click here for more info.

Last week Aquarion Water Company issued watering bans–not restrictions–in Stonington, Mystic, Greenwich, New Canaan and Stamford.
