HARTFORD - After the bombings in New York and New Jersey, and the mall attack in Minnesota, Connecticut law enforcement has been on high alert.

Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara said the departments are staying vigilant, as they always do.  They also are hoping to stress the importance of the community being vigilant, without being too alarming.

Chief MacNamara told FOX 61 that it is normal for people to be fearful during these times, but they shouldn't let their fear cripple them.

Over the weekend, law enforcement and state officials stressed the importance of the “See Something, Say Something.”  Officials are asking Connecticut residents to be aware of their surroundings and report anything that seems unusual, no matter how small it may seem.
