WALINGFORD – Wallingford Police are thankful that a concerned citizen found a dog that was stolen from car on Tuesday night.

Just before 9 p.m. police said they got a 911 call about a dog that had been stolen from a car that was parked in the Staples Plaza located 1145 North Colony Road.

Then, around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a real estate broker from Bristol said she was showing a house on Hanover Street in Meriden when she spotted the pooch on the front lawn. It was shaking.

She brought the dog home, and when a friend told her the dog was on the news she brought it to the police station.

The dog’s owner was notified and reunited with Casper, a 12-year-old white male Pomeranian. Casper was apparently overjoyed to see his owner,.

He weighs six to seven pounds, has a unique bent cotton ball-like tail, wheezes when he breathes, and has anxiety which causes him to shake and has seizures. He is not neutered.

He was wearing a dark blue sleeveless hooded vest and camouflage harness when he was taken.

Police said a woman and her friend were in a restaurant located at Staples Plaza from around 8 – 8:45 p.m. while Casper was left in their blue Audi Quattro convertible. The dog thief got in through a partially open window, according to police.

Police said that Casper’s owner was extremely distraught over his disappearance and very concerned about his health and welfare.

The investigation into who took Casper is ongoing. If you may have seen anything please contact police at (203) 294-2805.
