LAWRENCE, Mass. — A heartbreaking video is the latest example of the huge impact opioids can have on families.

A video recorded in a Family Dollar store in Lawrence, Massachusetts, shows a young woman on the ground, seemingly unconscious, while her 2-year-old daughter tries shaking and dragging her while crying.

The incident occurred in the store’s toy aisle, and other customers recorded it.

Police told FOX 25 Boston that in about 10 percent of the drug use cases they respond to children are present. In this case, the mother is going to be charged with child endangerment. The child is in protective custody, and the woman does not have any other children.

First responders needed to use two doses of Narcan to revive the woman, who also had straws and baggies with drug residue in her purse. It’s believed she overdosed on either an oral form of heroin or a narcotic like fentanyl.
