NORTH HAVEN — A Connecticut judge has ruled that an incumbent state representative can appear on the November ballot after he was notified last week that a paperwork blunder would prevent him from doing so.

State Rep. David Yaccarino, a North Haven Republican, received a letter from the Secretary of the State’s office last Thursday that said his paperwork was rejected because he failed to sign his candidate endorsement form.

Judge Thomas Moukawsher ruled Tuesday that Yaccarino would’ve been “irreparably harmed” if he was removed as the Republican candidate and the public’s interest is best served by allowing him on the ballot.

Yaccarino called the decision “a relief” and said he’s looking forward to continuing his campaign against Democrat Stephen Gifford.

Yaccarino was first elected representative of the 87th Assembly District in 2010.
