BRONX, N.Y. — Police were clearing the scene after rendering a suspicious package that was found in the Bronx as harmless.

The device, which several reports indicate was a pressure cooker without wires, was found on Wednesday evening, according to PIX 11 News. Part of the Major Deegan Expressway, a major thoroughfare connecting New York City’s boroughs, was closed for a time since the package was found under the highway overpass at East 134th Street and Alexander Avenue.

A bomb squad responded to the scene to assist.

Police also said another suspicious package was found in SoHo, near Mercer and Grand streets, but that has been cleared as well.
