WATERBURY — It was a tough few days for a Waterbury mother, frantic after her daughter went missing. State Police had issued a silver alert for the teen, but Friday morning, listed that alert as “resolved.”

According to her family, Monteya Atwater, 13, ran away from her grandmother’s house on Meriden Road in Waterbury at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday and was last seen at a friend’s house on Meriden Road at 6 p.m. where she used the friend’s phone and was picked up in an unknown vehicle. Her family was especially worried because Atwater has a chronic heart disease that requires taking medication twice daily.

Police did not say where Atwater was found, but she is safe.

Silver alerts are issued by law enforcement agencies for missing people of all ages. Amber alerts are issued for children who are believed to be in danger.
