NEW HAVEN — Police said a pizza deliveryman took away a robber’s gun and shot him during an attempted holdup in New Haven.
Police said Shawn Pauls, 23, with a last known address in Hamden, was arrested Tuesday morning at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was recovering from a gunshot wound.
Police said Pauls tried to rob the 43-year-old deliveryman while he was making a delivery at a home at 147 Colony Road just before 3 a.m.
Police said the deliveryman was able to wrestle the gun away from Pauls and fired several shots at him.
Pauls was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny and first-degree threatening. The deliveryman will not face any charges.
