FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Conflicting reports surfaced Friday afternoon over the seriousness of an injury suffered by New England Patriots rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett in Thursday night’s game against the Houston Texans.
Mike Petraglia, a reporter for WEEI, first tweeted that the break-out star will need surgery.
According to WEEI’s source, Brissett suffered the injury in the second half Thursday night and likely faces surgery to stabilize the damage.
But, another report said the injury was not serious.
The Patriots are 3-0 after Thursday night’s 27-0 win over Texas. Brissett, the first rookie starting QB for New England since 1993, completed 11 of 19 passes for 103 yards, and ran for 48 yards on eight carries for the Patriots as he filled in for the injured Jimmy Garoppolo, who inherited the starting job when Tom Brady was suspended for “Deflategate.” Garoppolo was injured in week two’s game against Miami.
