NEW HAVEN -- For the first time in four seasons, the Hillhouse High School football team of New Haven started the season with a true home game.

The Academics' home field, historic Bowen Field, was closed and went through some serious upgrades, including installing a turf field, new locker rooms, and new bleachers for the fans.

To put that in perspective, this season's seniors have never played a season at Bowen Field and thanks to one more upgrade, lights, they will be the first Hillhouse team to play night games at Bowen Field.

But first, Hillhouse has an away non-conference game at Fairfield Prep Friday at 6 p.m.
