HARTFORD — A professional mixed martial arts fighter from Connecticut convicted of molesting a girl over several years has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The Journal Inquirer reports that Manuel Torres, of Manchester, was sentenced last week by a judge who called him a sexual predator.

Prosecutors say the 38-year-old Torres sexually assaulted the girl from the time she was 8 or 9 until she was 15. He had a relationship with the victim’s mother.

Torres was convicted in June of multiple counts of sexual assault and risk of injury to a child.

The victim said in an impact statement that Torres “stole my innocence by using me as a tool for his personal gratification” and she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.
