COVENTRY — A woman is facing several charges after police said she embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from a group that provides services to people with disabilities.

Police arrested Michelle Labrec, 52, Wednesday after a ten month investigation, Coventry Police Chief Mark Palmer said Thursday.

Labrec was the former manager of accounts payable at Allied Community Resources in East Windsor. She is accused of embezzling more than $400,000 of funds that had been allocated to Allied Community Resources by the state Department of Social Services. According to their website, Allied Community Resources provides both financial management and direct support disability services.

Officer Brian Flanagan of the Coventry Police Department conducted an extensive investigation that uncovered the scheme as to how the money was embezzled, Chief Palmer said.

Labrec was charged with larceny 1st degree, identity theft 1st degree, and 114 counts of forgery 2nd degree. She was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Court on October 6.

The Connecticut Department of Revenue Services will continue to investigate the case.
