ORANGE —  Police are warning neighbors about a distraction tactic burglars have been using.

Orange police say last Thursday, a man went to a home on Fairlea Road claiming he was a town employee arranging tree cutting services.

Police believe the suspect was trying to distract the homeowner so an accomplice could burglarize the home. The homeowner became suspicious because the man was wearing clothing not suitable for tree work, and told the resident told him to leave the property.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30’s with blond hair and glasses.

Residents are reminded to always ask for id when someone comes to your door.
